SHC x Secret Collection
Sculpture House artists Nick Evans, Laura Aldridge, and James Rigler have been working closely with the Paisley Museum’s Secret Collection, an incredible open-access storage facility located on Paisley High Street. This hidden treasure trove houses the museum’s diverse and nationally significant collections, and Sculpture House has been focusing on the museum’s rich collection of 20th-century studio ceramics.
Over the course of their research, Evans, Aldridge, and Rigler have been exploring and responding to various elements of the ceramics collection, drawing inspiration from its shapes, forms, and historical context. Each artist has been developing new objects, infusing their personal creative approaches with the legacy of the ceramics they’ve encountered. Their work is set to culminate in an exhibition during 2024/25, where these new pieces will be showcased alongside the historical objects that inspired them. This collaboration represents a fascinating intersection of past and contemporary artistic practices, highlighting the continued relevance and inspiration found within Paisley Museum’s extraordinary collection.
