Fields and Devices
Sculpture House was commissioned by the NHS to develop an exterior artwork for the Bishopton and Dargavel Satellite Health Facility. The artwork, titled Fields and Devices, consists of four large ceramic tile panels mounted on powder-coated steel frames.
Drawing on elements of heraldry, Fields and Devices aims to create a sense of place for the new health centre. Our community consultation process revealed a strong local awareness of the site’s history, transitioning from a former Royal Ordnance factory to a residential area.
As part of the brownfield reclamation, numerous ponds and wetlands were created. These features are reflected in the colours and design of the panels, while insect motifs reference both the metamorphosis of the site and subtly allude to the shapes of the ammunition and shells once produced in the ordnance factories.
